  2. I am trying to insert an identifier on the "outer" page edge for all my sections. So, let's say section 1 is titled "executive summary", this would be displayed on the right side of the page in a colored box, so when "flipping" through it it can be found. Then for subsequently longer sections such as "scope of work" would also have this colored box with the section title in it and be offset. If one were to look from the outside of the bound document the individual sections would be visible. Many catalogs and resource books use this approach. Back in the "old days" when people had dictionary's, they had letter ccut outs in the unbound side of the book to quickly go to a letter section.
